Self-leveling floor
Self-leveling floor technology allows us to obtain a perfectly smooth, horizontal surface, which is used as a base for floor coverings such as tiles, parquet, laminate, linoleum and etc. You can install the self-leveling floor on any type of roofing tile.
How to make a self-leveling floor
Work process involves a series of steps:
Let's consider each in more detail
1) Cleaning the floor with a vacuum cleaner
We remove greasy stains, traces of paint, dust and garbage from the surface. A vacuum cleaner can be used for this purpose. Defects and cracks on the floor should be completely cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, free from suspicious details.
2) Applying color GRUND to the floor
Color GRUND performs the main function in the case of laying self-leveling floors. The property of penetrating deeply into the surface and bonding it can create a thin protective layer on the surface, which can significantly improve adhesion. Color GRUND protects well against the formation of fungus and mold. It will also extend its durability and there is a large selection on the service market. In our case, we use Knauf GRUND, which we apply to the floor with a brush.
3) Filling sinkholes and cracks in the floor
If you want the self-leveling stretch floor to be solid and serve you for a long time, it is necessary to follow the installation technology. After the ground, the concrete base must dry. The sinkholes and cracks on the floor should be filled with sand-cement liquid, the floor should be freed from additional dust by vacuum cleaner.
4) Self-leveling floor laying
When preparing any dry mixture, it is necessary to read the instructions for use. In many cases, the detailed description of the technological works is given on the package. We pour the required amount of water into a large vessel. (5.6-6.2 liters per 20 kg of dry mixture) and then we add the dry mixture. We carefully mix it with a special mixer until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
When preparing the mixture, try to observe the proportions, in case of excess water, the mixture will come out thin, which will reduce the mechanical strength of the prepared floor.
Attention: the prepared mixture must be used within 15-20 minutes. Therefore, it is advisable to knead it in small portions.
5) Floor treatment with a brush
To conduct the work, you will need a stainless steel trowel and a roller with needles. The prepared mixture is spread on the floor, then it is adjusted through the roller, and its needles remove the air bubbles that are formed during the work. You should start working from the farthest corner.
Try to evenly spread the mixture in the form of narrow strips. Then adjust the surface of the floor with a stainless steel trowel , until you get a perfectly straight surface. Continue working on the same principle, pour the second one parallel to the first strip and continue the operation until you fill the entire area. On average, the floor needs 8-10 hours to dry, and full exploitation is possible after 2-3 days.
The service fee with our own equipment is 35 GEL.
